F.A.S.D: A Parent's Perspective

This two and a half hour presentation consists of:

A Video: "When the Children Grow Up"Shows real life situations. If you didn't know what living with FASD was like before, you certainly will feel the pain, watching this video.

A Power Point Presentation: "F.A.S.D.: A Parent's PerspectiveThis powerful presentation is packed full of facts which most people do not know about FASD. Audiences are touched by the presenter's personal experiences and the struggles which other parents experience as they try to find help in Ontario. Parents feel their children have "fallen through the cracks" in the "system".

A Question period: Front line workers come prepared to learn about career related information but leave knowing that their own children are possibly suffering the effects of their own drinking while pregnant. They appreciate the opportunity to stay after the audience leaves and arrange for furtherprivate discussions. Biological mothers become aware that there is help for them as well as their child/children.

Handouts: Depending upon the interests of the audience, there have been resources distributed which relate to legal issues, classroom situations, medical problems, family crises and suggested solutions as well as a variety of other topics.
